Efficient Planning Guide: How To Organize Your Homework Time

Organizing your homework time will make your time out of school more efficient. When you go into your assignments with a regular plan, you will get into a routine that will bring you to success. You will learn to finish your assignments quickly, so you can have more free time when school is finished for the day. Here are some ideas to help you get organized:

Use a planner. Whether you use a paper planner or you use your mobile phone, you should use one of them to keep track of the assignments that you have to complete. As soon as you get home from school, you should immediately look at your planner and get started. All too often, students will fail to write down what they need to accomplish so they do not complete their assignments. This directly affects their test scores.

Get a timer. Your study space should have a timer that you can use when you are not feeling motivated. By using a timer, you can give yourself a certain amount of time to work and then reward yourself with some free time. If you work for 20 minutes, you can give yourself 10 minutes of free time. Or, you can set up your own time allotment.

Keep your desk organized. Your study space should have everything that you need so you do not have to run around your home looking for supplies. Have pens, paper, erasers, and whatever other necessities you need for your classes nearby. Some students will even ask their instructors for a second textbook so they can use one at home and one at school.

Turn off your phone. If you are easily distracted by your smartphone, then it is in your best interest to turn it off or leave it in another room during your homework time. Your phone can be the most distracting thing in your home. You know yourself best, so do what works best for you.

Schedule time to read. No matter what homework you have every night, you should always schedule a time to read. If you pay someone to do your homework, you will probably free up lots of time for yourself. Research shows that 20 minutes of reading every night is a true key to success. Students who read this often perform better on tests are exposed to over one million words over the course of a year, and end up with better jobs than students who do not read on a regular basis.
